Microtunneling
- Neptune was the first contractor in Western Canada to employ microtunneling technology.
- Microtunneling is a remote controlled, laser-guided pipe jacking system typically used to install pipe of a diameter less than permissible for man-entry.
- Using this method, utilities can be installed with a very high degree of accuracy over long distances and in challenging soil conditions where other systems would have difficulty performing.
- Main applications include:
1) Installing graded/sanitary and storm sewers
2) Deep installations, unsuitable soil conditions, build-up areas or where space is limited
3) Critical alignment
4) Can be used for pipe diameters from 300mm to 1950mm over distances up to 500m
5) A wide range of pipe material can be installed using this method, including concrete, steel, vitrified clay tile, polymer mortar, glass fibre/resin based, etc.
